Who We Are

United Methodist Human Services is a 501 (c) (3) organization that serves all of Cambria County, as well as parts of Bedford, Somerset, Indiana and Clearfield counties. Our mission is to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ by sharing resources of the United Methodist churches of the Johnstown District, which help alleviate suffering and injustice faced by persons with spiritual, emotional, and material needs.

What We Do

Project Shoes provides seasonally appropriate, well-fitting shoes for preschool, elementary and middle school children through $25 gift cards for Payless Shoe Source.  Referrals are made through school guidance counselors, teachers, social workers, other partner agencies, and pastors.  This is one of our favorite outreach programs!

We operate the Franklin Street Food Pantry, which is located at 510 Locust St. in downtown Johnstown across from the Post Office.  Our pantry is open every Tuesday from 9:ooam to 11:45am.  And because of our fabulous, dedicated volunteers we are open even during inclement weather!

UMHS also provides emergency financial assistance for individuals and families facing financial challenges or difficult circumstances. The majority of assistance goes towards preventing evictions and utility terminations.

Our Bundles of Joy program provides newborn and baby items such as diapers, wipes, sleepers, outfits, warm coats, blankets, wash clothes, etc. to support underesourced mothers in caring for their young children.

Hygiene kits are provided to individuals and families who are homeless and/or without an income.
